What some of my Prenatal clients
have said about the Yoga that I teach....
From Amy, a prenatal
client. "I did thoroughly enjoy your prenatal yoga classes--the physical
activity was wonderful. Also, I truly enjoyed the community of pregnant women
in tune with our bodies and so positive and hopeful about the tiny bodies, minds
and spirits of the babies in our tummies. I think attending your classes made
the L&D (Labor and Delivery) of my second baby even easier and smoother than
that of our first baby."
From Lynn, a prenatal client. "I
used the various yoga postures that Gail taught us in class, to help manage the
contractions. I had to be induced, and was able to walk around, sit on the birth
ball, and use my Yoga breath, to ease the severity of my contractions. I didn't
need to use any narcotics or pain relief. My pelvis was so opened up, that she
came out after 4 pushes! After the birth of my baby, the nurses were so surprised
how quickly I recovered. I was ready to go home that day! This was my smallest
baby of 8 pounds and 4 ounces."
From Cryss, a prenatal
student. "I love your yoga class. Being pregnant I am worried about
popping my back like I used to and the weekly yoga classes help relieve the stress
in my mid and lower back. I feel more relaxed after doing yoga, it is so wonderful
I almost fall asleep at the end of the class. The meditation portion helps me
learn to focus my mind on things that are not the present. It has helped me learn
to cope with stress and breathe instead of getting so frustrated! Anyways, love
it and would recommend it to anyone!"

Have a pain free delivery.... If you are pregnant
(or know someone who is) this could be one of the most important messages you
ever read.
Ob/Gyns, Midwives, and Mothers-to-be have been stunned by the
research about how yoga eliminates the pain of labor and delivery.
The practice
of yoga has many positive effects on pregnant women. Yoga includes physical stretching,
mental centering and breath awareness. This makes it an ideal preparation for
labor and childbirth.
Yoga encourages relaxation, internal focus and slowed
breathing patterns, goals that are common in many types of childbirth preparation
classes such as Lamaze and Bradley Childbirth method.
Yoga may help relieve
many of the common discomforts of pregnancy, such as lower back pain, nausea,
insomnia, carpal tunnel syndrome and headaches.
Research suggests that yoga
can help relax the body while preparing the muscles of the lower body for use
in childbirth.
The breathing techniques used in yoga can help reduce or
manage the shortness of breath that may accompany pregnancy and teach women how
to breathe through physically challenging experiences such as labor.
Yoga
encourages pregnant women to be mindful of the body's innate capacities and to
recognize the connection among mind, body and breath. Yoga techniques also may
be useful in promoting postpartum recovery and coping with the stresses of parenting.
Yoga
during pregnancy is safe for most healthy women.
I highly recommend the
books and DVD's listed on this site. I'm currently NOT teaching the prenatal
yoga format. When I have an opportunity to do so, it will be announced on this
website.

Gail Pickens-Barger, is a Experienced -Registered Yoga Teacher, through
Yoga Alliance
I have 4 children. During my
pregnancies I practiced Prenatal Yoga and no pain medications during all four
births.
With Prenatal Yoga, I was able to
have a fast second stage of labor and able to handle the labor pains with ease...using
my Prenatal Yoga techniques.
I enjoyed a quick
stay, afterwards in the hospital and recovered quite quickly according to my OBGYN.
Gail
taught pre-natal yoga classes while she was pregnant with her fourth
child. Gail can give you safe alternative yoga poses to do in the Hatha Yoga classes
that she teaches. Gail teaches Beginning/Intermediate Hatha Yoga at the Port Arthur
YMCA and Gentle Beginning Yoga at Wesley United Methodist Church on Mondays at
7 p.m. in Nederland, Texas.
Gail using the birthball during the labor process during the labor of her
4th child. (Even though I had to be induced...it can be done without pain
relief...yoga is that powerful!)
YogaFit PreNatal Workout. Poses that can be done for all Trimesters of Pregnancy.
Very Good!
Dr. Holly Jackson, who created/developed YogaFit's PreNatal Workout, has her own

Love
this Prenatal Yoga Short Forms DVD! If you are a very active yogi prior to being
pregnant, or, one that can really, really listen to their body, if you are doing
too much, this is the DVD for you. I wish I had this DVD available when I was
last pregnant. Since I allready had a very active yoga practice, this would have
complemented what I wanted to continue to do.....without having to think about
modifications and such. Go on over to www.jenniferwolfeyoga.com
to order!
